Crack of Dawn

Why do we say,
‘The crack of dawn’?

The first streak of light,
Cleave the dark night sky;
Forming a crack at
The eastern skyline;
Tearing the black curtains apart,
The light peers through;
Taking away the veil,
The morning smiles at you!
